Cecil B. Moore Scholars Program
As part of the university’s commitment to help cultivate the bright young minds of North Philadelphia and increase the number of North Philadelphians enrolled at the university, Temple has created the Cecil B. Moore Scholars Program. Read more about the program’s origin.
A critical piece of Temple’s anti-racism initiative, this program creates an academic pipeline for Philadelphia School District students living in Temple’s neighboring North Philadelphia ZIP codes—19121, 19122, 19123, 19125, 19130, 19132, 19133 and 19140.
Program scholars take a free Temple class during their senior year of high school and receive pre-college career exploration and tutoring if necessary. Before entering their first year of college, scholars will participate in
- a summer bridge program focused on math, writing and more.
- community building within their scholar cohort.
- community service.
Once enrolled full time at Temple, scholars receive on-going advising and support from Temple university staff as well as other partners experienced in student success.
Scholars receive full tuition scholarships for their entire four years of undergraduate coursework.
